BRI was started in 1985 to serve organizations implementing a process for continual improvement in stakeholder satisfaction and organizational performance based on international best practice standards for quality, environment, health and safety and social responsibility. This focus on stakeholder satisfaction led to the introduction of BRI's Vision Sharing and Performance Management Framework (PMF) as the core service to most of BRI's clients, worldwide.
BRI has been at the leading edge in the application of standards for trade and sustainable development and has been an advisor to business associations worldwide, including the Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters (CME), the Ontario Chamber of Commerce, the Brazil Federation of Industry (SENAI and SESI) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
BRI pioneered the implementation of an integrated risk management system for quality, environment and health and safety as the framework for a process for CSR and Sustainable Development in Canada, Brazil and India.
BRI's recent work with the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) has resulted in a practical approach to implementing a process for CSR and Sustainable Development that incorporates the principles and processes identified in international CSR instruments including the recent draft ISO 26000 Social Responsibility.
Many of the CSR instruments addressed in the BRI approach are included in a framework developed by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD): Mapping out the CSR /Sustainability Process: An Integrated Framework
